Advertising and affiliate disclosure

Some pages carry partner links in a block marked «Advertising». If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links reach retailers through an affiliate network (for example Ace Hardware for feeders and seed, Bushnell for binoculars). Partner links never change our seasonal data, the identification help or the binocular chooser's rule of thumb.

The site uses no cookies or analytics and has no embedded third-party content. A click on a partner link goes through our redirect, which records the click so commissions can be matched. See our Privacy policy for details about data processing.

What an affiliate disclosure means

An affiliate link can allow a publisher to earn a commission when a reader makes a purchase through it.

If a commercial relationship affects a recommendation or link, US advertising rules require a clear, conspicuous disclosure. Readers should see it with the recommendation, before clicking. A disclosure should explain the compensation in plain language, such as: "We may earn a commission if you buy through this link." A separate disclosure page alone is not enough.

How to read our equipment comparisons

The binocular chooser gives our rule of thumb, not a test result: a size to start with and the specs to check, with the reasons.

We do not rank named models. Specs on a maker's sheet are the maker's claims; stated eye relief does not guarantee a comfortable fit with eyeglasses.
